Jim Visits South Dakota

Belushi’s Farm & Dakota Herb Celebrate Their New Partnership

South Dakota is the latest stop on Jim Belushi’s self-proclaimed ‘World Weed Domination’ tour.  This week, he represented Belushi’s Farm at the grand opening events for Dakota Herb’s medicinal marijuana dispensaries across the state.

The dispensary and cultivation company began its growing operation in 2022, opening its first brick-and-mortar store in November 2022. Since then, Dakota Herb has expanded to include licensed dispensaries in Brandon, Vermillion, Huron, Aberdeen, and Lincoln County, plus cultivation facilities in Sioux Falls and Brandon.
Since legalizing medical cannabis in 2021, South Dakota has more than 11K patients currently signed up for the state’s approved medical cannabis program, and that number is steadily growing. As of Monday, July 25, 2023, South Dakotans with a medical cannabis patient card can purchase Belushi’s Farm’s hand-selected marijuana strains that serve as the source genetics for Dakota Herb’s local growing operation.

After losing his brother to a drug overdose, Jim is a strong and vocal advocate for legalized cannabis and the plant’s ability to change and save lives. Dakota Herb’s goal to demystify and destigmatize cannabis aligns beautifully with Jim’s fundamental belief that cannabis has therapeutic, healing properties and that it can help alleviate suffering from addiction, making the collaboration a match made in heaven.

Jim may be best known as a celebrated actor and talented musician, but he is a complex man with a myriad of talents. The author, activist, and cannabis farmer will always be an ‘Edutainer,’ and now, Jim’s 93-acre cannabis farm in Eagle Point, Oregon, is the stage for his Discovery Channel show, Growing Belushi, now streaming on MAX.

The show focuses on the farm, where elusive, legendary cannabis strains are cultivated and shared with dispensaries across the country. Growing Belushi debuted in 2020 on the Discovery Channel and recently wrapped up its third season.

Belushi’s Farm is home to a range of offerings including The Blues Brothers, Captain Jack’s Gulzar Afghanica (a rare strain from the Hindu Kush region that became known in the ’70s as “The Smell of SNL”), Good Ugly Weed, and Belushi’s Farm Premium House brand.
